World’s Largest Rubber Duck Comes to Hong Kong

Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman goes big – so big, that it’s practically impossible to miss his artistic statements. His latest work is a 46 feet tall and 55 feet long inflatable rubber duck, which today arrived to Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour and will stay there till June 9. Boldly called the Rubber Duck, this floating sculpture is described by Florentijn as a “very positive artistic statement that immediately connects people to their childhood”.

Bimmer has just taken the tarp off their 2013 BMW F 800 GS Adventure and this thing is everything we could have hoped for. Created for the market of riders that are looking for something lighter than the R 1200GS but still equipped with all of the off road attributes we’ve come to love from the German auto maker the 800 GS was designed for the dirt roads. Packed with a 798cc 4 valve twin cylinder EFI engine paired with a six speed manual gear box the two wheeler is putting down 85 horsepower and 61 lb-ft of torque. Other features include Electronic Suspension Adjustment ABS Automatic Stability Control and a larger 6.34 gas tank to go along nicely with that improved fuel consumption. The first 1000 motorcycles will be part of the Launch Edition which is seen sporting that beautiful Sandrover matte paint job.

While they’re from two different eras we can’t say the thought of Star Wars characters crossing paths with Chinese Imperial Warriors hasn’t crossed our minds. Apparently we weren’t the only ones with the thought either as Joseph Chiang created an entire collection of Star Wars Chinese Warrior Characters. We are always looking for excuses to browse the web for the best Star Wars stuff and with Star Wars day tomorrow this was more than enough reason for us to take a closer look at these ass kicking characters. The collection includes Yoda, Darth Maul and a Stormtrooper all of whom have been draped in oriental warrior attire. Check out the collection from the Singapore based artist below. Amazing 3D Papercraft Birds by Johan Scherft

Since the age of 14, Dutch artist Johan Scherft has been creating realistic birds with thin paper and watercolor paint, which gained him admittance to the royal academy of arts in The Hague. They are lifesize and very realistic in colour and detail. I make the birds and other animals from paper templates. The templates are handcoloured with watercolour and gouache before assembling. Some of the birds are scanned before putting together. In this way I can make a few  birds using the same design.
