Stout Magnetic Bottle Opener

Posted in : Design, Food

(added few years ago!)

Kickstarter has quickly become a mecca for innovative bottle opener designs, and the Stout Bottle Opener is the latest project to get successfully funded on the crowd sourcing site. Simple and sweet is the route that Denver based Joe Starmer and Lance Atkins chose to take with this device. Stout offers up something that not only looks beautiful, but also performs above and beyond your standard opener.  Cast from heat treated, tumble finished and bead blasted stainless steel, this is a bottle opener that was built to take a beating. Attach the opener right to your wall with the included screws or adhesive pad, and you’re in business. Sure it pops tops as good as the next opener, but the built-in magnet is what makes this thing a real winner. Check out the project on Kickstarter.

Kisai Breathalyzer Watch

Posted in : Amazing, Fashion

(added few years ago!)

After finding out that last week’s breathalyzer G-Shock watch was a fake, the folks at Kisai decided now was the perfect time to promote their timepiece, an actual working breathalyzer watch.Drinking and driving don’t mix well, and it would be nice to know if you are over the legal limit before you get into the car (not while being pulled over by the cops). All one needs to do is breathe into the side of the watch, and the LED backlight will respond with the color green if you are sober, yellow if you’re tipsy, and red if you’re drunk. The battery within the watch will last around a month on a single charge, and can be plugged in via USB to re-charge. Expect to pay around $100 for this watch. You can get pre-order yours from Tokyoflash.

Calaveras Day of the Dead Bicycle Playing Cards

Posted in : Design

(added few years ago!)

The official Dia de los Muertos celebration doesn’t kick off until November, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting excited for the artwork this holiday brings about with this Day of the Dead deck of cards.
Calaveras was created by Chris Ovdiyenko, and is an entire deck of playing cards inspired by the Day of the Dead artwork from the turn of the century. Chris has used the Bicycle logo from 1895 in an attempt to make the cards feel like they were something that would have existed during the Mexican Revolution of the early 1900s. Each suit will represent a different class of society including the banditos, clergy, military and the common people. Individuals who help support the project on Kickstarter will also be treated with beautifully crafted, woodcut prints for display purposes.

Paravelo: World’s First Flying Bicycle

Posted in : Vehicles

(added few years ago!)

In addition to creating useful everyday products, Kickstarter inventors have also had a chance to test the waters with their wildest dreams – dreams like the Paravelo flying bicycle. The designers at XploreAir have created the first ever flying bicycle, and now they are looking for your help to take this thing to production. An electric motor fires up the biofuel-powered fan, while the flexible wing controls the takeoff process. The bike can reach altitudes of 4,000 feet allowing users the ability to enjoy the great outdoors with a bird’s eye view. The vehicle can also reach speeds of 15 miles per hour on the ground, while achieving higher speeds of 25 miles per hour in the air. There is no need for a license to fly this bad boy, and with the ability to take off from virtually anywhere, riders will fully be able to appreciate the 3 hours of flight time. Support the project on Kickstarter, and see this thing in action below.

Growler City Bicycle by Joey Ruiter

Posted in : Vehicles

(added few years ago!)

It seems that with each passing day we encounter another ingenious innovation within the cycling sector, and today brings us the Growler City Bicycle showing that the trend is not slowing down.Commuters who opt out of cars in favor of its 2 wheeled counterpart still need to do everyday errands, but now with less storage space. One such errand (although it can be a bit more recreational than most) is transporting beverages from point A to point B. Industrial designer Joey Ruiter decided to tackle this task head on with his Growler City Bike. The bike is equipped with meaty 29 inch tires, monarch springer front end, and a drink holder that will allow riders to transport a 1 gallon jug of beer. Of course you can also substitute the beer with milk (or any other beverage for that matter), but we prefer to think of this thing as an awesome setup for summer barbecues.

Posted in : Vehicles

(added few years ago!)

The Audi Sport Quattro Concept has sees some obvious cosmetic revamping with sharper lines crafted from a mixture of lightweight materials like aluminum, magnesium, and of course plenty of carbon fiber. Let’s forget aesthetically for a second though, and focus on the power plant here. Early reports indicate that this beauty will be sporting a twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 motor that’s putting down an earth rattling 650 horsepower. Of course you can’t expect this much car without a hefty price tag. Although nothing is official yet, the vehicle is expect to hit the scene with a window sticker hovering around $150,000. Ass Savers Emergency Bicycle Mudguards

Posted in : Adventure

(added few years ago!)

As more professionals flock to bicycles as their main means of transportation to and from the office, product designers have been scurrying to implement solutions for the all too common “mud butt” we’ve experienced ourselves. After recently taking a look at a Kickstarter campaign in the MUSGUARD, we now shift our focus to a product that’s already available on the market in the Ass Savers Emergency Mudguards for your bicycle. Constructed from a small piece of plastic, this little device clicks right on to your saddle preventing that God awful mud butt (hence the name).  When you’re all done using it, simply slide it right under the seat. Out of sight, out of mind. They are also available in a handful of color options to help suit your needs.
